What is it? The sense-making workshop will involve up to 30 people representing various ages, locations, backgrounds, and connections to the Mildura region. It is a 'deliberative' style workshop, where participants will:
-
Consider community feedback, and other council data and information
-
Discuss, interpret, consider trade-offs and test potential options
-
Work together to agree a set of recommendations to help shape guiding principles for the Financial Sustainability Strategy
Who can register their interest? 18+ year olds who live and/or work in the Mildura Region - the area covered by the Mildura Rural City Council. You can click here to see a map (opens in a new window). You don’t need any prior knowledge or experience to take part, but your role will be to represent your community (not just personal views and needs), so you will need to be willing to listen, read some background information materials and discuss ideas openly with other workshop participants.
Who is running it? The workshop will be run by independent consultant Activate Consulting, who has extensive experience in facilitating collaborative and inclusive workshops like this where everyone has the chance to participate.
When and where? The workshop will be held in-person from 10am to 2:30pm on Sunday 3 May at Mildura Sporting Precinct, 684 Deakin Ave, Mildura VIC 3500.
Compensation: We recognise that some panel members may need to travel long distances to attend, therefore we will be paying participants $100 each (through GiftPay) in recognition of their time and to cover potential transport costs. Please note that only those selected through the sampling process who attend the workshop will receive this payment.
How does registration work? This form will be available until 13 March 2026. A specialist third party will then review all of the expressions of interest and develop a sampling framework that aims to select community members with the most representative mix possible. Up to 30 participants will be selected.
Privacy: The information you enter into this form is stored on an encrypted server located in Australia.
